The Box

The Box is about the tension between structure and freedom. A heavy black frame tries to hold in a restless field of color and overlapping marks, but the painting won't stay inside its edges. Color spills over the frame and the shapes run into each other. That mess ends up being part of the picture. It's a piece about the boxes we make, and the parts of ourselves that don't quite fit inside them. The Box is printed from an original painting by Richard Jarry. It's art you can wear.
